EG Reaper's track panel view, FX chain workflow and track input routing/functionality workflow to me is far more intuitive to achieve the results I want if I have 16 microphones set up around a drum kit, a choir or a brass band than FL Studio's and Ableton's separate workstations. But the workflow to do so does not make a lot of sense to a lot of people, including me. It'd be a pretty shitty DAW if it didn't have that capacity. You CAN use Ableton for live instrument/band tracking. These seem to be aimed mostly at EDM/beat producers, which these DAWs in turn serve VERY well.ĮDIT: There's a whole bunch of bad readers down here. Just the thought of recording a band with Ableton gives me the sweats, much like FL. I'd say Ableton is a pretty genre specific DAW to be honest. Hope this helps and isn’t just word vomit jargon.

Loading a full feature picture, dx, and fx into each cue session is just infeasible. Its a lot and takes a while to get used to, but if I’m scoring an ad or something short I just load the picture directly into Logic and it’s a one man band. Makes it’s so that my cue sessions are just midi and audio and the picture snaps to whatever timecode the cue tells it to in ProTools. I have one session that is the picture, dialogue and fx, and several Logic sessions (cues) without picture loaded at all.

I really only use this setup on longer form projects like scoring a feature. Then you have to make sure each daw is set to same sample rate, frame rate, and start timecode because the second daw will receive that exact timecode and chase it if that makes sense. On mac you then just have to create a midi channel in your audio midi setup to use as your transmit and receive channel on each daw. Essentially you set up one daw to transmit MTC and the other to receive it (chases the other). Using 32-bit and other plugins with Logic X (and Logic 9)Īligning regions: One track snaps to -25, the other snaps to -24.9? Educational content like tutorials is exempt from this rule.
